GMO Aozora Net Bank Plans to Launch Digital Currency in 2024

GMO Aozora Net Bank is preparing to introduce a blockchain-focused digital currency called DCJPY, scheduled for launch in July 2024. This marks the initial endeavor by a Japanese corporate entity boasting over 100 members. DCJPY, facilitated by blockchain technology, will offer instant transferability and will be backed by deposits. Notably, these transfers won't necessitate routing through the bank's data system, resulting in cost reductions.
